‘Some of you have read at or attended Postbox launches over the years and know that I alternate them between Edinburgh and Glasgow. I’d always wanted to launch a publication on Leap Day and did so with Issue 3 on the twenty-eighth of February 2020, not knowing that COVID would soon paralyse the world.
We returned to live launches last year with dynamic events at Tell It Slant in Glasgow for Issue 6 in June and Issue 7 at Golden Hare Books, the beautiful bookshop in Edinburgh, in October. The next launch will be on 5 April at 226 Gallowgate in Glasgow and will be a wee bit special because it will be joint with the launch of the new Postbox Press publication, Five Glasgow Stories, a short-story anthology.
2022 was Scotland’s Year of Stories and highlighted that Edinburgh had at least two short-story anthologies about it and, to my knowledge, Glasgow had none so I felt that the imbalance needed addressing. I arranged to meet with Colin Will at Dunbar, told him about my idea, he liked it and I hope you enjoy both publications.’
