In the UK, as Pound and Auden might have put it, poetry makes  nothing keep on happening. Nuclear disarmament? Carbon neutrality? Decent conditions for essential workers? Politically, British poets have supported nothing in public life more staunchly than they support the monarchy. Thus does that sinister façade get a fresh lick of paint, and a dishonourable clan gets its reputation laundered. Stop it! Scrap the franchise.
