Grit and Flesh are two pamphlets in conversation: expectations, faith and fear, tenderness, and the layers of family. Between them lies the body: first watching, then watched; first sheltered, then sheltering.

 

Grit

A girl grows up in Spanish heat: incense thick as surveillance, friendships and secrets drying on skin like sea salt, wine sipped in secret.

 

 

Flesh

A mother grows into herself, drenched by Scottish storms: grazed knees, kitchen full of tenderness, grief spilling into ordinary days.

 

Grit/Flesh traces girlhood through adolescence to motherhood, inhabiting the body as lived terrain where fractures lead toward resilence and understanding.
